The "Young at Hearts" was established in the early sixties by a few newly married couples who came to live in the Reading area. Originally called the "Young Marrieds", the group was formed to welcome new couples into the district to meet and make friends. Some forty years on the group is as strong as ever, but in the '90s the name was changed to the "Young at Hearts", as other groups formed in the town for younger couples, and we could welcome those who no longer had partners. We have no committee or chairman; we meet in our members' homes on a more or less fortnightly basis and the host and hostess organize a programme for the evening, such as quizzes, guest speakers, card and games evenings, discussions, musical evenings etc .
