Reading town is conveniently located close to the M4 motorway, only 40 miles west of London in beautiful Berkshire and straddling the rivers Thames and Kennet.

Its architecture is a mixture of old and new which, for a town with a 1000 years of history, makes it a very interesting place in which to live and work.

With the 'Oracle', a major shopping mall, recently opened, coupled with an already thriving pedestrianised town centre, Reading is fast becoming the place for shopping within Berkshire.

Reading is situated in what has been termed the UK's Silicon Valley and within easy reach of the M3, M4, M25 and M40 motorways and also within an hour's drive from north west London. This makes it ideal for Heathrow airport, just 30 minutes by road and with regular coach links.  London is just half an hour's train journey from Reading's main-line railway station, giving easy access by train to most areas of the country for pleasure or business. Reading is therefore ideally located for commuting.

Housing, compared to London on a pro-rata basis, costs substantially less and, with a wide variety of excellent schools and other facilities, makes Reading the ideal choice for families who are thinking of settling down.

Also in and around Reading can be found some of the highest performing schools in the country in both public and state schools giving your children the best possible start in life.

Reading Synagogue itself is  situated within easy walking distance of the centre of Reading, the Oracle Shopping Centre and the main Reading station.

Members of the community live in various areas in and around Reading, some within easy walking distance of the Synagogue.

Additionally the Synagogue serves the wider  Greater Reading community which includes parts of Wokingham, West Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. Our Synagogue is the nearest one to these areas.  It is also the nearest Synagoue to North Hampshire and parts of Wiltshire, and the only Orthodox Synagogue in Berkshire.
